Lianne's story
Lianne is a portrait artist based in Dorset in the UK. Although Lianne draws a variety of different genres her focus is in studying the human faces of the world and she strives to produce work which radiates a feeling of telling a person's story through capturing their unique facial expression and emotion.
Lianne works with Graphite, charcoal, Acrylic, oil paints and her Nikon camera although her favourite medium is oil painting.
Since Lianne was at an age where she could pick up a pencil, she has had a love of drawing! But it wasn't until the age of 23 that she decided to study the art of drawing and practice her craft with the ambition of earning a living through art. Using every possible resource at her disposal she taught herself to draw and paint using certain tools and techniques.
With her drawings and paintings Lianne likes to strive for an element of photo realism whilst retaining an element of artistic style and flare, capturing her subjects likeness whilst at the same time making sure her art looks like artwork and not photographs. She works hard to develop her own style which she tries to improve upon and tweak with every completed work.
in 2014 Lianne will took part in her first exhibitions. she exhibited for two weeks during Purbeck Art Festival in Dorset, followed by the Shards exhibition at the BIC in Bournemouth in honour of the Amy Winehouse foundation. Lianne won best overall artist for her work at this exhibition and also won the prize for best artwork with 'Drinking in the morning sun' and her piece 'Little girl Brazil' was the runner up.
in 2015 Lianne set up an online skincare and cosmetics business which became a great success, it led to a brief hiatus in painting and drawing. However she came back to her passion with even more vigour and passion than before. the pandemic of 2020 allowed her more time for art and he has spent the last couple of years revisiting art basics and honing her skills.
